The Leadership and Management Programme (LAMP) is an integrated suite of two development programmes and activities to build long-term leadership and management skill within the New Zealand health and disability sector.
LAMP is an initiative of District Health Boards New Zealand (DHBNZ) delivered by LAMP Providers. It is designed for people across the whole New Zealand health sector. It is based on the philosophy of action learning; people learn best about leadership and management by doing real jobs and addressing real issues.
It comprises the following programmes:
Management Action Programme (MAP) is a nine month programme for existing District Health Board, Ministry of Health and other health sector managers who wish to enhance and consolidate their performance in their current role.
Health Systems and Management for Clinicians (HSMC) is a six month programme for clinical leaders in leadership roles that may include a management component.
LAMP will include development activities to respond to special initiatives in the sector as these emerge, such as assisting Primary Health Organisations to develop.
LAMP represents a long-term commitment to building capability across the health and disability sector and may add other programmes and activities as the sector evolves.
DHB Chief Executives have identified leadership development as a priority for the health sector. They see the LAMP suite of programmes as a key vehicle in developing the sector's leadership capability. |
